The most lasting impression of the Lowell Mills is their role in shaping early American industrialization and their impact on workers' rights and women's roles in society. It was known for revolutionized textile production, paving the way for other manufacturing industries. The Mill Girls, who worked in the mills, fighting for better working conditions and challenging traditional gender roles. 

Many of the buildings are now home to shops, apartments, museums, and offices. The Lowell National Historical Park, which includes the mills, now operates trolley and boat tours, offers interactive education programs, and features exhibits about mill life and the Mill Girls, according to the National Park Service.
